West Water Seahorse

This is the second installment in a four-part Directions series.

West is generally represented by the element of Water, and there are lots of different water symbols in this little guy. Waves run through his body and an arrow points west. There are also lots of little fish, turtles, seals, and water nymphs throughout his face and body, and a waning moon symbolizing wisdom and serenity.
Finally, the word “water” (in very hard to read letters, becoming part of the seahorse itself) is written in the tail.

As totems, Seahorse itself traditionally represents:

  • Patience
  • Parenting
  • Friendliness
  • Protection
  • Awareness
  • Perspective
  • Generosity/Sharing
  • Persistence
  • Contentment
  • Anchorage
